Know the team and brokerage relationship

Max Jones and Zac Morton co-founded MoJo in 2004. MoJo is a real estate team, and Keller Williams Kansas City North is its brokerage. Keep those identities clear when reading a profile, reviewing an agreement or looking up an agent.

A recognizable brokerage name is useful context. It does not by itself explain the individual agent’s relevant experience or the exact services proposed for your property. Ask for those details directly.

Confirm the person responsible for your move

Before you begin, ask who your primary agent will be and how to reach them. Discuss the role of any showing, marketing or transaction support involved in your plan. Confirm who handles a question that the primary contact cannot resolve.

  • Who explains pricing and negotiation choices?
  • Who sends routine updates, and how often?
  • Who covers time-sensitive needs when the primary agent is unavailable?
  • How do you raise a service concern with the team or brokerage?

Written expectations make the relationship easier to evaluate than assumptions about what a large brand or a team structure provides.

Read the actual service agreement

Buyers should review representation, services, duration, compensation and termination provisions before signing. The NAR consumer guide to written buyer agreements explains that these terms can be negotiated and that compensation is not set by law.

Sellers should similarly ask what the proposed listing services include, how costs are handled and which commitments are written into the agreement. Ask for clarification before relying on a verbal description that seems different from the document.

Evaluate recognition in context

If a team or brokerage award matters to your decision, ask for the publisher, year, category and source. A percentage without that context is incomplete. A production distinction also leaves practical questions about communication, local experience and representation for you to answer.

Our guide to reading real estate rankings explains those comparisons with a sourced example.

Plan your first conversation

Tell MoJo where you want to move, whether you are buying or selling, and your timing. Ask how the proposed service plan fits those needs. Review our buyer resources or seller resources, then contact the team with your questions.
