Kansas City Weekend Happenings Sept. 15 – 17, 2017

Well summer is pushing back with these warm temperatures but that won’t stop the fall fun! You just might op for the cold apple cider over the hot cider. Here are some of the top events happening in Kansas City this weekend:

 

Jesse James Festival

When: Thursday, Sept. 14 – Sunday, Sept. 17

Where: Jesse James Park, Kearney, MO

Cost: FREE

What: The continuation of the Jesse James Festival will be this weekend. This classic festival that celebrates the famous outlaw with Missouri ties features all your fair favorites like a carnival, parade, competitions, mud volleyball, food & drinks, and more. Find the full schedule here.

 

Fun Farm Pumpkin Patch Opening Weekend

When: Friday, Sept. 15 – Sunday, Sept. 17, open Friday & Saturday 9am – 10pm and Sunday 9am – 7pm

Where: Fun Farm Pumpkin Patch, Kearney, MO

Cost: $12.95+ depending on whether you want to go to the pumpkin patch, corn maze, or both. Children under 2 are free

What: This great fall family fun attraction is opening this weekend for the fall season and they offer much more than a pumpkin patch. There are a ton of activities for the kids like hayrides, farm animals, a giant corn pit, pumpkin cannon and slingshot, slides, tasty pumpkin donuts and so much more! The Fun Farm will be open every day through Halloween – find their hours of operation here.

 

Grand Opening of the Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze

When: Friday, Sept. 15 10am – 10pm

Where: Louisburg Cider Mill, Louisburg, KS

Cost: $10, children 3 & under are free

What: Louisburg Cider Mill offers much more than cider! This fall family favorite has a 10-acre corn maze, 10-acre pumpkin patch, tricycle track, huge corn pit, farm animals, a ton of fun & games for kids, a country store, and of course delicious food & drinks. This weekend they are having a special promotion where if you bring in a homemade scarecrow for them to add to their field display then you’ll receive $5 off admission. The Louisburg Cider Mill’s corn maze and pumpkin patch will be open every day through Halloween.

Hallmarket 2017: A Hallmark Art Fair

When: Saturday, Sept. 16 10am – 5pm

Where: Crown Center

Cost: FREE

What: A celebration of creativity and artistic talent. Around 100 Hallmark artists, photographers, sculptors and designers will display and offer their work for sale. Browse watercolor paintings, sculpture, textiles, jewelry, photography and more. This is the artists’ personal work, outside of their jobs with Hallmark. Purchases may be made by cash or check only, directly to the artist.

 

25th Annual Waldo Fall Festival

When: Saturday, Sept. 16 10am – 5pm

Where: Downtown Waldo, in the CVS parking lot at 75th Street and Wornall Road. 

Cost: FREE

What: The family-friendly event, is a FREE neighborhood festival that includes kids rides, games, face painting, food trucks, local music, and a host of vendors to meet and mingle with throughout the day.

 

Paws in the Park

When: Saturday, Sept. 16 9am – 12pm

Where: English Landing Park in Parkville

Cost: FREE or $25 per dog if you’d like to participate in the 1-mile walk

What: This celebration of people and their pets includes fantastic vendors, area rescue groups, contests, raffles, food and fun. The KC Disc Dogs will return with their high-flying fun! The 1-mile walk starts at 10am and you can register here or show up at 8:30am to register the day of the event.

 

Friends of Shawnee Town Arts & Crafts Fair

When: Saturday, Sept. 16 9am – 4pm

Where: Shawnee Town 1929, located at 11501 W 57th St, Shawnee, Kansas 66203

Cost: $1 admission

What: There will be over 130 vendors, showcasing their hand made, homemade and re-purposed items. As well as several food vendors on site to meet the needs of your tastebuds! There will be several areas for the kids to learn and play for FREE! Live music will be heard from the Gazebo throughout the day – Anchovy Fishermen performing from 10am-12pm, followed by Darrell Lea from 12:30pm-3:30pm.

 

Uncorked: KC 90+

When: Saturday, Sept. 16, Session 1: 2-5pm, Session 2: 6-9pm

Where: Union Station

Cost: GA $50, VIP $60 (only available for session 1 and gets you in the event at 1pm)

What: Enjoy over 100 wines from across the globe with ratings of 90 points or higher. Plus food trucks, live music and more! Samples are included in the admission price but food is sold separately.
