It’s going to be a beautiful weekend here in Kansas City! The temperatures will be enjoyable, only a high of 77 degrees on Sunday, and the sun will be shining – so get out and enjoy your weekend!

The event this weekend that is sure to be all over the news is Big Slick Celebrity Weekend. This two-day charity event is hosted by KC-area raised celebs Paul Rudd, Rob Riggle, Jason Sudeikis, Eric Stonestreet, and David Koechner, and raises funds for Children’s Mercy. The hosts won’t be the only celebrities involved in the event, they have brought dozens of their friends with them – including Weird Al, Will Forte, James Van Der Beek, Sarah Chalke, David Cook, Johnny Knoxville, and many more. But what will all these celebs be doing you ask? Having fun for a good cause, and you’re invited! There will be a softball game prior to the Royals playing at The K on Friday night, a bowling tournament at Pinstripes at Prairiefire Saturday morning, and finally a party & auction at The Midland Saturday night. If you haven’t already gotten your tickets for these events, unfortunately you are out of luck but you can still enjoy the free Big Slick Block Party before the bowling tournament at Prairiefire from 9-10am.

Another big event happening this weekend in Kansas City is  Maker Faire Kansas City 2017 at Union Station. Maker Faire brings together makers of all kinds, from technology & science to crafts & art, this is like show-and-tell on a grander scale. And it won’t just be show, because these makers want to make money too, there will a TON of interesting & unique crafted items for sale. This is a great event to take the kids to and spark their interest in science & technology. The fair will be Saturday 10am-6pm and Sunday 10am-5pm. Single day tickets or weekend passes are available for purchase here.

For the ladies this weekend there is the 2017 Just For Her Event at Overland Park Convention Center. This event features many things that women love, mostly shopping, but also fashion shows, DIY make & take classes, beauty, pampering, fitness, and food. The event will be Saturday from 10am-6pm and Sunday from 11am-4pm, and there will be a VIP party Friday evening as well but tickets for that portion of the event are sold out, speaking of tickets – they are $5 (plus $1.27 fee) when purchased online here or $8 at the door and can be used for access on both days, and children 12 & under are free.

If you didn’t get your fill of beer from Boulevardia last weekend, you’re in luck! Because there are 2 beer festivals happening in KC this weekend!

First up will be the 2017 KC Nanobrew Festival at Berkley Riverfront Park Saturday from 2-6pm. This festival is dedicated solely to local home brewing and giving the public a chance to see all the amazing brewing talent in our community. The $35 admission includes a full-size souvenir glass, a $5 food voucher, and entertainment with brewers offering attendees unlimited tastings of their beer. They do limit the number of attendees to be able to create an enjoyable experience for everyone – tickets are still available here but don’t wait too long!

Also on Saturday is the 7th Annual Westport Beer Fest from 5-9pm in front of McCoy’s Public House. The Westport Beer Festival will feature over 80 beers from more than 35 breweries and will include several local craft distilleries (follow the link above to see the list). Guests will sample some of the worlds best brews, spirits, and fabulous food while having the opportunity to mingle with principals and brewmasters from each participating brewery and distillery. In addition, festival goers will have the opportunity to meet members from this year’s Sporting Kansas City team. Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door.

It’s almost the Forth of July, if you’re looking to get into the patriotic spirit a little early, you can enjoy an exclusive free live concert by the U.S. Air National Guard Band of the Midwest “Concert Band” Ensemble. The performance will begin at 7 p.m. at Mulberry Lake across from the Village at Briarcliff. The U.S. Air Force Band is a 45-piece big band with a diverse repertoire of traditional swing, bebop, modern jazz, vocal selections and patriotic songs honoring our nation’s military branches.
