Kansas City Weekend Happenings June 16 – 18, 2017

It’s Father’s Day weekend! There’s some fun events happening this weekend in Kansas City to help you celebrate. It’ll be a hot one Saturday, so make sure to stay hydrated if you plan on being outside.

Boulevardia is this Weekend

The largest event this weekend is Boulevardia, put on by KC’s own Boulevard Brewing Co. at the Stockyards District. This festival brings together the best aspects that music, beer, and food festivals have to offer and has been growing in popularity and size over the past few years. You can enjoy this pop-up party nation Friday and/or Saturday. In addition to all that Boulevardia has to offer, like a massive music line up spread across 3 stages, there will also be a family carnival and a huge Makers Market featuring a ton of unique artisanal goods ranging from clothing & jewelry to delectable foods. Because this is such a popular event, many ticket packages are sold out but there are still a few options available here, starting at $20.

This weekend holds another music, food, and drink event that you may want to check out – Food. Art. Drink. at Linden Square in Gladstone. Saturday starting at 3:30pm there will be food trucks and local artist’s tents lining the square and craft beer will be available for sale.  For the music portion of the event, jazz artists A La Mode , Sons of Brasil , and Gladstone native Max Groove will perform. Follow the event, around 9pm, they will be screening the award winning movie La La Land. So pack up those lawn chairs and head out to this free event.

With Father’s Day this weekend it’s a good time to really cherish and build upon that father and child bond. Liberty Parks & Rec is hosting an event that will do just that between a father and his daughter with a Daddy Daughter Dance at the Liberty Community Center Saturday evening. The event is from 6-8pm and includes an Italian dinner, dancing with music provided by a DJ, a photo booth, and board games to play if your feet get tired of dancing. This event is restricted for daughters age 5-12 and costs $30 per couple plus $10 for an additional daughter ticket. You must register for this event here.

The Village at Briarcliff is hosting another Movie Night by the Lake this weekend. Saturday night, around 8:45pm, they will be showing The Jungle Book by the lake (more the size of a pond) that’s across from the shopping center. So grab some snacks and your lawn chairs & blankets and enjoy this free, family-friendly event Saturday night.

Don’t forget to celebrate Dad this weekend on Father’s Day! One event this weekend that can help you do just that is the Brunchin’ with Dad event at Chicken N Pickle. I’ve written about Chicken N Pickle before, but if you don’t know, Chicken N Pickle is a new restaurant and entertainment hot spot in NKC that offers a full bar, wonderful food (they specialize in rotisserie chicken), yard & giant board games, and pickleball (which is a super fun & easy-to-learn sport that is like a cross between tennis & ping pong). From 10am to 2:30pm, they will be hosting some Father’s Day brunch fun with food trucks, games, and spiked specialty coffee drinks. This event is sure to be fun for the whole family.
