Kansas City Weekend Happenings July 7 – 9, 2017

You probably can’t believe it but it’s already the weekend again! So here is what’s happening this weekend in Kansas City.

All this weekend you can head out to Oak Grove Park in Gladstone to enjoy a little theatre. Gladstone Theatre in the Park will be performing Willy Wonka this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 8:30pm. In addition to the performance on Saturday night, there will be a 30th anniversary celebration for Gladstone Theatre in the Park.

It’s the first Friday of the month, which for Kansas City that means a lot will be happening down at the Crossroads Arts District for First Friday. It will be a great night to stroll the streets, popping in and out of the galleries, restaurants, and bars at the Crossroads – seeing fine art, street performers, and live music along the way. Follow the link above to find out the special features this month.

If you have an old soul or maybe just want to try something new, you might love going to the Union Station Swing Dance this Friday night. This will be a grand ole time filled with swing dancing to music performed by The Kansas City Jazz Orchestra. Don’t know how to swing dance? No worries, show up by 7:30pm for a swing dance class taught by 627 Stomp that’s included in the price of your ticket. Then the music will begin at 8pm and the dance floor will be hot until 10pm. Tickets at $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

Did you not get your fill of fireworks this past week? Then you are in luck my friend! Because of inclement weather Kearney decided to move their Fireworks Celebration to this Saturday evening. In addition to the fireworks, there will also be a concert by KC cover band Switch and free inflatable attractions for kids. This is a free event held at the Kearney Amphitheater, the concert will start at 7:30pm and the fireworks will kick off at 9:30pm.

In a galaxy far far away… or actually more like at a shopping center not so far away – comes a star studded event (pun intended). This Saturday evening The Village at Briarcliff will again be hosting their Movie Night by the Lake; this time the featured flick is Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The movie will begin at dusk – about 8:45pm, so pack up your blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks and head on over to enjoy a free movie night with the family.

Coming Up Next Weekend:

7/14-16 – Junk Jubilee at Overland Park Convention Center

7/15 – Pints for Paws at Boulevard Brewing Company

7/15 – Muse at the Museum at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

7/16 – Lip Smackin’ at Macken at NKC’s Macken Park
