Kansas City Weekend Happenings July 14 – 16, 2017

Hopefully you didn’t melt away this week in the high temps that we’ve had here in Kansas City. Here are some great events going on this weekend to help cool you off, in addition to heading to the water park or pool.

Those of you that enjoy antique shopping or just finding unique finds will love going to the Junk Jubilee at Overland Park Convention Center this weekend. Vendors of all sorts of antique goods will be coming together at the convention center for your shopping pleasure. You can shop Friday & Saturday from 10am-6pm and Sunday from 10am-4pm, admission is purchased at the door for $8 and children 14 & under are free.

A fun event this weekend for a great cause is Pints for Paws, happening at Boulevard Brewing Company Saturday night from 7-11pm. This evening will feature delicious food from PB & J Catering, open bar, and a silent auction of a lot of great items. Tickets are $100 and the proceeds will be benefiting Paws for Freedom, a group of volunteer middle & high school students that train service dogs for people in wheelchairs.

There’s another fundraiser event this Saturday in Kansas City – Muse at the Museum at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Be inspired at Young Friends of Art’s newest fundraising event, Muse at the Museum as you gaze to the stars, dance among the lights and sip cocktails on a wonderful summer evening. For one night only, the museum has commissioned an interactive art station for your muse to truly inspire light throughout the Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park. Bites and cocktails are included with your ticket, which cost $80. All proceeds support The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Members of the museum receive access to an exclusive experience, which includes tarot card and palm readings, plus free-spirited style accessory. The event will be from 8pm-midnight with an exclusive Members only hour from 7-8pm.

This Saturday The Village at Briarcliff will be hosting another family-friendly Movie Night by the Lake. They will be showing Disney’s Finding Dory at dusk – around 8:45pm, so gather up your lawn chairs & blankets and enjoy  a free evening out with the family.

On Sunday there will be a delightfully delicious event at North Kansas City’s Macken Park called Lip Smackin’ at Macken. There will be 9 food trucks and a beer tent making up the smorgasbord from 11am-3pm. Some gather up your family & friends and enjoy this free tasty event at the park – it’s like a picnic without all the planning & packing!
