Kansas City Weekend Happenings August 25 – 27, 2017

Can you believe it’s already the weekend! The work week has flown by for those of us lucky enough to have been able to take a 3-day weekend for the total eclipse. Here is what’s happening this weekend in Kansas City –

KC Dance Day is this Weekend

Arts and Crafts – Film & Beer Festival

When: Friday, August 25th – Thursday, August 31st

Where: Screenland Armour in North Kansas City

Cost: $60 for viewing of all films, $35 for the beer festival

What: A full week of independent films, craft beers, music, art and more. The Beer Festival portion of the event will be on Saturday evening from 6-10pm and will feature over 75 beers for your sampling pleasure plus live music. The week will be filled with 20+ feature films, documentaries, and shorts being played on the big screen.


Sunflower Festival

When: Friday, August 25th 6-9pm & Saturday, August 26th 9am-3pm

Where: Downtown Mission, Kansas

Cost: Free

What: Friday evening is the kick-off party and will consist of music, dancing, a beer garden, and 9 food trucks for your dining pleasure. Saturday starts with the Direct Computer Outlet Parade at 9 a.m., followed by classic carnival games, contests, artists, entertainment and more!


Popcorn in the Park: Zootopia

When: Friday, August 25th 6:30-11:30pm

Where: Stocksdale Park, Liberty, MO

Cost: Free

What: The movie Zootopia will be played in the park for your family to enjoy. Liberty Parks & Rec will also be serving up popcorn and water to the first 500 attendees. The movie won’t be starting until 8:30pm but the Kansas City Zoo will be there at 6:30pm with their Zoomobile!


Royals Charities 5K Walk/Run

When: Saturday, August 26th 8am

Where: Kauffman Stadium

Cost: $35

What: Here’s your chance to run on the field where your favorite baseball players run! This 5K’s course will run along the length of the warning track at Kauffman Stadium. Online registration is now closed but day of registration, from 6-7am, is available until the 3,500 participants limit is met.


KC Dance Day 2017

When: Saturday, August 26th 9am – 6pm

Where: Todd Bolender Center

Cost: Free

What: Enjoy a day of FREE dance classes (for both children & adults) and FREE performances; even an open rehearsal by Kansas City Ballet dancers! Lunch will be served from 11:00 am to 3:00 p.m. by Two Guys and a Grill. You may purchase a $6 meal ticket in the lobby for your choice of a hamburger, veggie burger, hotdog, or chicken breast plus chips and bottled water.


Roost Market KC

When: Saturday, August 26th 10am – 6pm & Sunday, August 27th 10am-5pm

Where: Union Station

Cost: $7

What: If locally made goods, craft cocktails, delicious eats and new cultural experiences sound appealing, then this can’t be missed. $7 gets you for the ENTIRE WEEKEND. Purchase one ticket (for Saturday or Sunday and redeem both days!)



When: Saturday, August 26th 7-10pm

Where: Linden Square, Gladstone, MO

Cost: Free

What: The wonderful Beatles cover band, Liverpool, will be performing!


Beer Yoga

When: Sunday, August 27th 10am

Where: The Pool at Onelight, Kansas City, MO

Cost: Free

What: Beer Yoga is a unique experience, fusing the calming practice of yoga with the calming sensation of sipping beer. Come challenge your skills and have a great time attempting to balance your beer and your body at the same time! Must be 21+ to attend. BYOM (bring your own mat)
