The National’s students attend Park Hill, one of the top-ranked school districts in the state according to US News, and certainly one of the most sought-after in the Kansas City area.

Elementary schools for The National community include Graden (right down the road at 8804 Highway 45) and Union Chapel (at 7100 NW Hampton Road).

For 6th grade, all Parkville students attend Plaza Middle School, located 10 minutes away at 6501 NW 72nd St.

Lakeview Middle School (located about 10 minutes away at 6720 NW 64th St.) serves 7th and 8th grade students in the area.

The community’s students attend Park Hill South High School, located about 15 minutes away at 4500 River Park Drive.

When it comes to private schools, St. Therese Catholic School, serving grades K–8, is under 10 minutes away, located at 7277 Highway 9. St. Therese also has an early childhood center.

Other preschools in the area include Parkville Children’s Cottage Montessori School and Parkville Academy.

Local events that happen every year

In the summer (April through October), you’ll find the Parkville Farmers’ Market at English Landing Park in downtown Parkville.

Don’t miss the Parkville River Jam Jazz festival in June—a two-day festival featuring musicians and artists from Kansas City and beyond.

Parkville’s Fourth of July celebration features carnival rides, a parade, and some of the best fireworks in the Kansas City area.

In late August, the Parkville Days festival in downtown Parkville has something for everyone, from arts & crafts, to jazz and blues music, and of course, great food.

Parktoberfest, hosted each year in late September, features live music, a wide array of food stands, and a beer (and wine!) garden.

Then, in early December, the Christmas on the River will get everyone in the mood for the holidays, with performances from the Park Hill children’s choirs, a visit from Santa, and famous holiday fireworks.

Price points

Prices for the maintenance-provided “Lime Stone Road” townhomes range from $250,000 to $400,000. The newest neighborhood to be developed at The National, Cider Mill Ridge, features homes starting in the low $200,000s. Prices for other homes range from about $500,000 to $3,000,000.
