What: An annual Kansas City fall tradition, the Plaza Art Fair is always a crowd favorite. As one of the nation’s top ranked art festivals this event boasts over 250 artists displaying and selling their artwork along the street of the Plaza. There will also be 3 stages for live music and restaurants will have stands set up to sell delicious food and drinks (think more cuisine & less carnival – yum!).

What: A great little festival that has a small town feel but is packed with all your festival favorites like a carnival, live music, vendor booths, performances by local dance groups, and parade. The live music will be Friday night from 7-9pm and Saturday 5-9pm, performances will take place on Saturday afternoon, and the parade will be Saturday starting at 11am. (Also note that the carnival area won’t be opening until 5pm on Friday).

What: KC Bier Co. will be bringing Germany to Kansas City with this traditional style Oktoberfest celebration. The 3-day extravaganza will be filled with lots of Festbier, contests, live music, food from KCs finest Grunauer Kansas City and Betty Rae’s Ice Cream, silent auctions, charity support, dancing, singing, and swaying. This event is family-friendly as well, they will have a kids zone sponsored by Academy Sports.

2017 Oktoberfest Festival

Where: Downtown Lee’s Summit

Cost: FREE admission

What: This Oktoberfest celebration seems like it’s more of an American take on the German tradition with having a carnival, American live music, arts & crafts, and a community stage for group performances. But of course it will feature all there is to love about Oktoberfest events like the biergarten, German food, and of course steinhoisting competitions.

UNplaza Art Fair

When: Saturday, Sept. 23 10am-6pm and Sunday, Sept. 24 10am-5pm

Where: Southmoreland Park (just to the west of the Nelson-Atkins)

Cost: FREE

What: The Plaza Art Fair is great, but because it is one of the top art fairs in the nation, it draws more artists from across the country to display and sell their works, which sometimes leaves no room for local artists. The UNplaza Art Fair features local artists of all calibers, and price ranges for that matter. This fair also features a lot more wearable’s than the Plaza Art Fair typically does.

2017 Overland Park Fall Festival

When: Saturday, Sept. 23 – 7am-5pm

Where: Downtown Overland Park (8045 Santa Fe Dr)

What: The Overland Park Fall Festival features a hometown parade through Downtown Overland Park, the county’s best arts and crafts fair, the state’s best farmers’ market, three stages of concerts, fantastic food and much more!

What: This festival is part entertainment, part businesses and non-profits on display and of course all kids. With over 50,000 square feet of fun inflatables, performances, fun foods, face-painting, arts and crafts, and pony rides. This festival is truly a celebration of kids and their families.
